]]> The Spectralink DECT Base Station controls the traffic channels in the air and works as the link between the Spectralink 7000 Series handsets and the Spectralink DECT Server 2500 or 8000.

The Spectralink DECT Server operates the Spectralink DECT Base Stations through a wired standard twisted pair of cables per base station and the cable length may be up to 6,562 ft. (2,000 m).

Each Spectralink DECT Base Station covers a circular area of between 65 and 1,968 ft. (20 to 600 m). The size of the coverage area depends on location specifics such as building materials. Before installation, each location needs to be assessed to define the number of base stations required to achieve desired coverage. The Spectralink DECT Base Station is now available in four and eight channel versions.

The Spectralink DECT Repeater does not increase the number of traffic channels, however provides a larger physical spreading of the traffic channels and thereby increases the coverage area established with the Spectralink DECT Base Stations. Spectralink DECT Repeaters are mainly used in areas with limited traffic.

The Spectralink DECT Repeater is available with either 2 or 4 speech channels. It is wireless and does not need physical connection to the Spectralink DECT Server, making it very easy to install. The Spectralink DECT Repeater can be supplied with an external directional antenna, which makes it possible to create radio coverage in a remote area without cabling to the rest of the installation. Power supply is required.
